I can't believe we did it.
On our way to the Via Ferrata trail...
The beginning. Our guide Nicole giving us some final tips...
Perched on a ledge...
Seriously perched on a ledge. We were probably around here when this picture was taken...
Insanity.
See the little iron steps?
Often times there were no bars and you were on your own to find your way along the rock. This was an unwelcome surprise.
Believe it or not...the suspension bridge was the least scary part of the climb.
150' high, 200' long.
Off I go!
And finally (three hours later) we reached the summit - 900' up.
The view was incredible.
Don't I look like I'm having a great time in these pictures!? Don't be fooled....
IT WAS TERRIFYING!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess I had to test myself and see if it was something I could get into. I love hiking and the outdoors....but who wants to dangle from a cliff???
Lunatics that's who!!
Somethin' ain't right with those people.
I'm really glad that I did it. But you won't see me doing this again. Even when we were in places where there was room to move around and the others were enjoying the view, I was plastered to the rock face white-knuckling some tiny crevice.
It was scary.
Even though we camped for two nights (which was delightful! on the ground where it's safe) Ed and I still managed to make some progress on the patio yesterday afternoon. Progress pics will be posted tomorrow!
Have any of you been rock climbing before? Did you love it? Hate it?

Oh wow! You are totally my hero. That would scare the everything out of me. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I don't think I would ever be able to do that. Not only am I a weakling and couldn't climb if my life depended on it, I can't take anything super high like that.
ReplyDeleteBut what a beautiful view!!
Crazy.... how very crazy! I would have fallen to my sudden death. Great job.... but you wouldn't catch me trying it!
ReplyDeletedee dee
Go you! There is NO way in H-E-double hockey sticks I would have even considered doing that!
