Door progress is slow but steady. It's been raining for two days straight and so I had to move the doors inside. Here they are in the workshop (basement) leaning against an I-beam.
I only got through two more sides before I ran out of stripping gel.
I'll pick up some more tomorrow...
I could have probably stripped all three doors last weekend, but we went to the beach...
Peanut loves the beach. It's her happy place. Mine too.
We stayed in a rental that we've stayed in several times before. But in all these years, I never noticed this!
Hello little campaign chest! Do you think your owner would notice if I pulled the ol' switcheroo with an Ikea Malm dresser? Cause I want to take you home and do this.
Or maybe kelly green!
Totally stealing it next time.
Have you noticed that you see so many more details in rooms and homes than before you started reading blogs? I definitely do.

I've definitely noticed that too! I'll be eating dinner at a restaurant, and I'll look up and stare at a light fixture forever and say to myself, I should get a picture of that. Like at Hoss' they have these huge wooden wheel chandeliers that are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI've said this a thousands times already, but I'm still jealous of those doors! :p
& don't worry, I forgive you for taking off to the beach for the weekend. :P
Exactly! Restaurants, stores, wherever, I'm checking out the carpet, lighting, furniture - everything!
DeleteAh, the beach. We skipped our winter getaway this year so we could save up for our exterior renovations, and I've been daydreaming about the waves. Looks good to me.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes! I've been noticing the details, too. It's kind of bad because it means my taste is elevated a bit now, and I have to be careful not to spend all of the money.
Yes! Isn't that funny?! I've also picked up on all sorts of terminology that I didn't know before. I can totally tell D when he's looking at a houndstooth pattern, or what a chemise is. lol!
ReplyDeleteRight? If someone had told me they bought a campaign chest a year ago I would have had NO idea what they were talking about!
DeleteJealous of your beach weekend. When I walked out of the house Saturday morning I remember thinking how it was the perfect day for the beach and missed living only 25 minutes away...
ReplyDeletePea looks so cute and happy!
Glad you enjoyed your time at the beach! I'm looking forward to seeing those doors done!
ReplyDeleteI totally see so many more details now! And I might have drooled a little bit when I saw that piece in your rental. I love that picture of you and Peanut at the beach too! It's totally my happy place as well. :)
ReplyDeleteI love those doors so much! You are making me itch to get our back door repainted. The previous owners just slapped paint on it, no primer or sanding, so the paint is bubbled and starting to peel.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that I pay attention to decor when watching movies and tv shows and occasionally in restaurants. I have learned a TON of things since I started reading blogs. It's funny when Charlie and I are walking through Home Depot and he see something, points it out and I'm all like "Oh you use that for such-and-such."
I'm much more aware of the decor surrounding me not only because I read blogs now but because I have a house and enjoy thinking about why people make the design choices they make and what makes them work. And I'm always looking to steal good ideas for my own house.
ReplyDeleteHa! That's really true. The fun part is when you start noticing how hip your grandparents' furniture has become. Everything old is new again...
ReplyDelete100% yes! But my noticing stuff is more psychotic than passing glances. I assume I care waaaay more about said item than the actual OWNERS of said item and start trying to play Let's Make a Deal. Embarrassing, but just can't help myself. Hey, everybody loves to have their homes swooned over a bit, right?
ReplyDeleteOoo! That dresser. So many amazing things could be done with that. Love your ideas! You must get it :)
ReplyDeleteHi

I dont think they would notice, go ahead and take that baby home!!
ReplyDeleteLove! Hey, a little thieving never hurt anyone ;)
