Well I've gone and done it. I've ripped apart the master bathroom!
While Ed's out of town!
Ed doesn't know!!
I'm...a little nervous haha.
But I figure the bathroom was (and still is) SO disgusting, that there's no way to make it any worse. I was so hesitant to put these pics on the blog. When I started this blog, only my family knew about it. No big deal showing my family nasty pics of our home - they've seen it in person! But now...people are watching.
Oh well.
Here goes.
Don't judge.
This is what our master bathroom looks like.
Yuck.
Dry heave.
Charming light fixture... that's just a regular bolt in the middle. Classy.
Peanut's afraid.
The demo isn't that major... I'm not doing a full on gut job. Just removing the vanity...
(grrrrrrrrrrroooossssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!) So scary what's tucked underneath semi-permanent furniture in your house. Especially if it's been in place for a long...LONG time.
I removed the soap dish, toothbrush holder, toilet paper holder and towel bars...
I also removed the grody wall cabinet.
Looks like several other shelves or cabinets have hung in this spot over the years. There were two large rust spots hiding behind the cabinet. Looks like there is some sanding in my future... fun times!
The thing that's even scarier than the bathroom itself, is that I'm not exactly sure where I'm going from here (what...like I should think it all out ahead of time?) So the next few posts will either be a smash hit or an epic fail. Either way it should be fun to watch right? Stay tuned!

oooooo - brown, pink and cream!! you are the lucky ones!!!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see what happens next.
c xox.
Ha ha, well done you - I would have been too scared to touch all that stuff without Rod on hand incase water spurted everywhere!! xox
ReplyDeleteYou should have just demo'd the entire thing, tile walls and all ;) take a picture of Ed's face when he see's the bathroom! haha
ReplyDeleteI would love to rip out the whole thing but I'm scared it would take us months to put back together again :( That might end up happening though! haha
Deletehow exciting! We have a dated bathroom with similar issues, except we have orange tile. Can't wait to see what you do with it! I tried to tackle just the faucet on my own while hubby was away one time and things didn't go well. He came home and wasn't very happy and we ended up calling my father-in-law over to fix it! Wishing you luck as you tackle this and hoping things only get better for you!
ReplyDeleteHAha this is my second faucet so I'm hoping things go more smoothly this time around. The first time there was definitely water, water everywhere!
DeleteAH! Just kidding.
ReplyDeleteGood luck. You are a much braver person than I am! You're right though, I guess you can't really make it worse.
Can't wait to see how it turns out!
HAhaha!
DeleteOh my! sometimes I really wonder what people were thinking when they put stuff in their house! Good luck! Can't wait to see what you do with it, and can't wait to hear about Ed's reaction!
ReplyDeleteWoooo, you are far braver than me, girly! That's a big project! And no Ed?! I can't wait to hear what he has to say - and how it turns out! From what I've seen so far, my money is on a smash hit!
ReplyDeleteThat bathroom totally reminds me of what our guest bathroom looked like when we moved in...except instead of pink, ours was blue! It was the same tile and flooring and ugliness!
ReplyDeleteThe good part is that now that you started the ball rolling, it can only get better from here on out! Good luck transforming it! :)
It is so crazy how similar our houses are/were! Ed wants to knock out our kitchen, dining room, living room walls like your house! Open concept is awesome.
DeleteOh fun! I once had a friend that totally tore our her pink bathroom walls and all.... when her husband was out of town!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see where it goes from here!
dee dee
Omg, and I thought my guest bath was bad! I think our light fixture was the same as yours :)
ReplyDeleteGurrrl it was nasssssty haha ;)
