Tons of progress in the master bathroom this weekend! I'm going to post updates by the day because otherwise the posts would get too long.
So let's start with what happened on Friday!
Actually let's start with the text message that I got on Saturday morning...
I have to censor myself sometimes :)
But anyway...he found out! What was he doing reading the blog while away on a guys only snowboarding vacation!? Kinda sweet actually.
So back to Friday night.
Friday was devoted to cleaning and prep. This involved sanding the walls and window frame which can get very dusty. A coworker I talk DIY stuff with brought in some home lead testing kits for me and I tried them out before getting started.
Both the window frame paint and the wall paint tested negative! But then I tested the "control" provided in the kit that contains lead on purpose and got a negative result..... So I busted out the big dog.
Hot!
I spent the next three hours sanding and cleaning - mainly cleaning. I washed the walls and ceiling with TSP, then rinsed it off. Then I scrubbed the tile and floor with Lysol. Then I sprayed pretty much the entire bathroom with Clorox solution.
Then I set up a fan on full blast, opened the window and let it all dry out.
See? Looking better already.
NOT.
Cleaner - yes. Prettier? Definitely not. The pretty-ing began on Saturday morning.
After three hours of cleaning and scrubbing nastiness in the bathroom, on top of a busy work day, it was so awesome that my sister decided to come over and cook dinner!!
And it was goooood too!
Sauteed red onions, bacon, parmesan cheese, rigatoni and whatever other goodness she threw in there. MmmmmmmMMM! We ate an entire box of pasta.....just the two of us. Oops.

ha! so busted!!!
ReplyDeleteeagerly awaiting more!!
