Bathroom reveal!

Did I say I was going to post the bathroom reveal on Monday? I meant Wednesday ;)

Anyhoo... I have created one mighty fine bathroom for my hubs! All by myself! Go me.

Before....

After...

Ed's style is very contemporary (if you asked him he wouldn't know what that means haha) so I chose things for his bathroom that I thought he would like - except for the over the toilet storage thing, he chose that. It turned out very masculine and contemporary which wouldn't have been my first choice but I think it looks great!

Before...

After...

Ugh. My pictures suck! All these were taken with my iPhone. Our camera's broken and I'm not sure they would be better with the camera anyway. So hard taking pictures in a 5' x 5' bathroom.

Before...

After...

I'm so excited about the colors! The walls are Stonington Gray (same color as the adjoining bedroom) and the panels are Stampede. Both colors from Benjamin Moore.

And a couple other closeups...

New vent cover and toilet paper holder (since I tore the old one out of the wall!)

So hard to get a good pic of this but I created this molding out of small pieces of paneling and wooden dowels. Saw the idea on Thrifty Decor Chick's blog. More on the process later... now I'm just basking in the glow of being done.

And now for the bad news....before you get too excited, I couldn't get rid of all the pink tile. The shower remains untouched. Sad... but I didn't want to mess with paneling over tile, or painting tile in a space that's constantly wet. This makeover was just a temporary face lift. Botox for the bathroom. We'll do the real thing and gut it in a couple years.

Hope you like it!

I'll take some daylight pics and post about the process soon.

    1. Yup! I ended up painting the paneling and used a brush instead of a roller. I thought having some brush strokes might add some more oomph to the flat/no texture paneling.

  13. Hi I just stumbled upon you blog while looking for bathroom reno ideas. I have HORRIBLE tile in my whole entire bathroom, shower included. Can you give me more information on the vinyl tile? Did you install it in the shower section as well? How has it held up? Do you have any pictures of that? Hope you see and answer this as my comment is a few months after. Dying to know firsthand how the vinyl held up in the shower/tub surround because thats the only thing holding me back from purchasing some PVC wainscoting right now. Thanks!

    1. Hi Kelly! I unfortunately didn't install anything in the shower (too scared of mildew/mold getting underneath it). The vinyl tile floor in the main part of the bathroom has held up perfectly!! It still looks brand new and and is staying put. The vinyl panels are also still in place and looking great. I definitely recommend both products. I was also just talking to a neighbor of mine who has the same bathroom as us. She said they just installed new tile on top of the old tile in their shower and that it's been three years and the tile is still like new! Makes me want to tile our shower now! Hope this helps :) Any other questions, please ask!
